1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS5

This authentic 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS5 retains its matching-numbers 454-cubic-inch V8 and is documented by the original build sheet and three folders of restoration receipts. Finished in its rare factory Classic White color with a black vinyl top and black interior, it is equipped with a Turbo 400 automatic transmission, factory air conditioning, power windows, and the F41 suspension package. It has earned multiple awards, including a judged Chevy Vettefest Gold Spinner Concours award.

EXTERIOR

The body is finished in its rare factory Classic White color with a black vinyl top and painted black SS stripes. SS equipment includes a blacked-out grille and rear panel, SS 454 emblems, polished oval exhaust tips, 14-inch SS wheels, and a functional cowl-induction hood with hood pins. The straight body has aligned panels and doors that close without sagging. The glass was replaced, the trim is polished, and the bumpers were rechromed. Reproduction 14-inch Goodyear Polyglas tires and T-3 headlights complete the period presentation.

INTERIOR

The restored black interior retains its factory power windows and air conditioning. The vinyl bucket seats with headrests and rear seat were reupholstered and retain original seatbelts. The original center console and shifter remain in place. Replacement items include the door panels, carpeting, kick panels, headliner, visors, rearview mirror, dash pad, and steering wheel. The gauge bezel, instruments, climate controls, push-button radio, and tilt column appear original. The dome light operates.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT

The matching-numbers 454 Turbo-Jet LS5 is rated at 360 horsepower and carries the correct 512 casting, date code, and VIN-stamped pad. The original single-snorkel cowl-induction air cleaner remains in place. The block is finished in Chevrolet Orange and fitted with chrome valve covers, date-coded spark-plug wires, correct hoses, and tower clamps. Factory equipment includes air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, electronic wipers, and connected windshield washers. The radiator, overflow reservoir, and washer bottle have a correct appearance. The steel hood underside, inner fenders, and firewall are finished in satin black, and the original cowl tag remains installed.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT

The trunk lid underside and jamb are finished in body color with reproduction decals and replacement weatherstripping and latch hardware. The solid trunk pan wears factory-style spatter paint. A reproduction tire on a restored SS wheel, complete jack assembly, and rubber mat are included.

CHASSIS AND UNDERSIDE

The body was removed from the frame for a factory-style restoration. The F41 suspension includes front and rear sway bars and boxed rear control arms. Front components include replacement springs, shocks, ball joints, sway-bar links, and bushings; the rear uses replacement springs, hardware, and reproduction spiral shocks. Front disc brakes use renewed calipers, hardware, and lines, while rear drum brakes and the parking brake remain in place. A Gardner reproduction dual-exhaust system includes resonators and correct tips. The fuel tank, filler neck, straps, and hardware were replaced. The matching-numbers 454 and correct Turbo 400 automatic were refinished, with replacement transmission linkage and lines. A correct 12-bolt rear axle uses Positraction and 3.31 gearing. The rust-free floors carry factory undercoating refreshed with black paint.
